D’ Lagoon revisited!!!!

I felt so pleased and excited as we rounded the rocks and came into D’ Lagoon from the sea. It was so like I remembered it, the beach, the bungalows even the Coconut tree that lays over the beach and supported by a stilt was still there. dlagoon wonky palm treeThe sky was so blue with not a cloud insight. We stayed the first night in a (non bathroom - 30RM) room close to the one we had last visit. It was a nightmare they are all linked down a single corridor about six or maybe seven rooms on each side. The tops are all open to the room on either side so privacy (sound wise) is limited. We had a loud talking German couple on one side and an English couple on the other who sat up late eating crisps and biscuits. I sound so mean and moaning but it’s like you have these people in the same room with you. We got up the next day feeling grumpy and tired after not enough sleep and again this feeling that all is not right with the world. We spent the day being offish and difficult questioning why - surely in paradise one finds happiness!!! I got talking to a German women while washing some of our clothes and she agreed that it can be hard when you are away. She said something I found interesting - that in the search for happiness and perfection you will only every be disappointed because no place can ever be 100% what you are looking for. There will always be some thing that is not quiet right, it is important that you realize this and decide on the things you are happy to live with and those you are not and then enjoy!!! She also said something else that I found quiet enlightening - that she felt 20% of our (general our) unhappiness with what we find in life, is in fact unhappiness we carry around in ourselves!!! D'lagoon bungallow 60RMGavin and I sat down for lunch and made the decision that we would spend the extra 30 RM a night and go for a 60RM bungalow with a bathroom and only one neighbour. If there were problems with noise then we would only be staying for 3 more nights. The food was OK, there were three other children for Tehya to play with and we would be able to check out the beaches we had visited before (which did not disappoint they were as beautiful as we remembered). We spent the next few days relaxing and having fun, on our second night we shared a Dorado (Dolphin Fish) it was huge - cooked on the BBQ and served with plain rice and sambal with the German family and their children.

The only other major down side was that it is different here this time - and I don’t mean in relation to our memories and expectations. There is much more rubbish, hidden behind the accommodation - half buried in the woods and floating in the sea. It varies from plastic bags, noodle packets, water bottles to electrical wire. The size is also different - from huge bits of rubbish to the multi coloured grains/flecks you can see in the sand at the waters edge. Not all of the island is like this - at Mira the beach and the water is much cleaner. I don’t know if this is because of the tidal directions or where this rubbish comes from - some of it is likely to be generated by the resorts. It is also just as likely that some comes from the fishing boats and from the mainland. The coral most definitely starts further out at sea and the numbers of fish (although there are still many fish) are fewer and you find less close to the shore. Dlagoon beach perhentiansThere are many more boats - fast boats. They ferry tourists over from the mainland and in between each of the resorts. So things have moved on……. Over all we enjoyed our stay with D’ Lagoon. It was nice to go back, after 3 nights we were ready for the more solitary feel of Mira again and Gavin called them to ask if we could have another beach side bungalow. We made the journey back to Mira beach - strangely it felt like coming home!!! We have a different room this time - its on the rocks next to the one we had before - its just as rustic and wonky - perfect in every way….. and dinner that night was BBQ fish, spicy chilly sauce, plain steamed rice and salad. It was one of the best meals I have had so far!!!!!

  3. Just love reading about what you are doing and the people you meet. The German woman sounded interesting. Some things she said to think about. Well it is samba samba for me. Don’t you just really really wish you were coming to Camborne tomorrow !!!!!! to Trevithick Day. Anyway fun for me with penzamba. Just love the dressing up bit and entertaining. Then a party tomorrow night as it is Jo’s birthday and conveniently for me at local village hall. Or perhaps not conveniently as I guess everyone will want to stay here.I got put in charge of the cake and so made one in fashion of a surdo. Taken me all day and am actually quite pleased with it. Will send you a photo. So Becca thinks she has probs with baby Annabel - well I have greater probs taking rocking horse for a trot every day I can tell you.Considering putting him in local stable. Enjoy yourselves. Miss you. Love mum xxx

  6. Makes interesting reading. I suppose just because your life is one long holiday at the moment it will still have its ups and downs regardless. (Good news for us stops us feeling so jealous)Back to the realisation that happiness is within not without. Follow Tehyas example - we can learn so much from children and their responses to situations because they don’t have our baggage. Your beach bungalow sounds wonderful, have tried to imagine going to sleep to the sound of the sea ………..mmmmmmmmmmmmm. We are fine, my dad has been back in hospital which has complicated life a little and have had to bring mum here as her short term memory has gone, but hopefully he will come out today and things will return to normal. Beccy living and working in London now and Jonathan has started and is enjoying his new job as assistant psychologist in a prison. Keep blogging love reading about you all, big kiss to Tehya. x

  8. i hope the cyclone that has caused a lot of deaths and problems in north burma and has now moved to north thailand does not come your way,a point worth watching on any news chanel you may have access to,loved your pictures of beach bungaloo so simple and easily constructed would be all that a person needs to exist comfortably,it doesnt need double glazing or central heating and dishwashers or tumble driers and all the trimmings that we the misguided seem to expect and would be zero carbon rated and if all human relationships were like Tehyas and Annases what a wonderful world we would live in,but ooh how we the adults have ruined it,
But at least Tehya will grow up and know that there are alternatives.good luck to you all
