Pulau Kecil Perhentian - The small island
17/04/08 Getting the boat from the jetty at Kuala Besut was easy and very straight forward. It all seemed arranged to almost military accuracy. There are apparently no slow boats running any more and the fast boats leave regularly. Tehya enjoyed the ride over, with big smiles - she said the wind kept going up her nose so she held it for much of the journey which was funny and kind of cute. We opted to come to Mira Beach. We were really pleased to see it when we arrived. The beach is beautiful and the sea an amazing colour blue.
There are about nine small bungalows on stilts some arranged around the beach and the others a little behind as it slopes up towards the ever green forests. The people that own it are relaxed and friendly - they have a five year old son called Anas - who Tehya adores. I think at 5 he is a little confused by her female adoration as she chases him around the beach laughing hysterically at him. They play football together - Anas kicks the ball and Tehya picks it up and runs off with it. We have tried to explain that football is about kicking the ball but she insists that it is much more fun to pick it up and run. Then she collapses in the sand laughing. The only down side we have decided is that to food choice is a little limited - or at least the things on the menu that we have tried have been a little plain. Which is a disappointment. We have been told you can walk easily to the Fisherman Village and to Coral Bay.
This was part of the reason we opted for this site as we thought it would give us a few more options with Tehya. So we figure if things get desperate we can always trek for dinner!!!!!
