Leaving the wonderful shores of Bali 14-10-2008

We have had a wonderful time in Bali with many adventures, the local people are generally always friendly, even the police when you are handing over 50,000 to 100,000 Rp for some made up non illegal bike or car infraction. There is plenty to do and I think we managed to do a reasonable amount in our 5 months or so. I must admit that I’m sad to leave but also happy to have a fresh new challenge of another country and a change of scenery.

We fly to KLIA LCCT (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) in the early hours of tomorrow, so up at 3:30am then taxi to Denpasar airport at 4am. Our flight is with Air-Asia at 6am and should get us into KL around 9am.

We then will catch a sky bus from KLIA LCCT to KL Sentral, then hop onto the KL Sentral Monorail to Raja Chulan Monorail station. Oh it all sounds so simple and stress free, except I have a big heavy surfboard bag to carry and a 4 year old child who is allergic to walking!!!!

We have decided (well Tehya has) that we will stay in KL for a few days and visit several tourist sites including the Petronas towers. We told Tehya about our visit to Kuala Lumpur several years ago and how amazing it was to go in the big fast lift in KL Tower the building next to the Petronas towers.

Anyway it is late here and it looks like we may only get a couple of hours sleep before our flight leaves.

  1. Hey guys
Seems so long since we were with you in Bali- we had such a fantastic time and you guys being there really contributed- we are back home now- I am avoiding sinking into a depression with crisp sunny dog walks on the beach, hot baths, good chocolate, etc… I shall continue to vicariously live out my continued wanderlust by reading your blog- looks like you are still having fun. Keep us updated on what you are up to and any longer term plans..

PS: BIG hugs to TehyaXXXXXxxx and say: “HEY!” to her from us!

  2. Heh heh, so true about the Balinese police taking money for a dubious traffic law infringement with a smile and sense of grace! I can remember haggling one officer down from (can’t remember exhange rates – sorry!) from about £50 to £2.50. He was laughing the whole time as we played out the theatre of it: Oh, sir you have a front wheel over the white line. You must go to court in three months. Me: I leave next week, maybe I can give the fine to you officer, and you pay the court for me?

Very funny! Anyway interested to read your blog as I live in Cornwall and have made a few incursion to SE Asia. most recently was sailing up the Malaka Straights on board Jos from the Phoenix pub at Watergate’s traditional Indonesian pinisis.

Will be checking your blog often, all the best
