Vault Beach is a long, quiet stretch of coast south of Gorran Haven, tucked below Dodman Point on the Roseland. Shingle gives way to sand at low tide, and the beach feels more secluded than busy Gorran Haven or Mevagissey — largely because there is no road to the shore.
The usual approach is the National Trust car park at Lamledra (donation via honesty box; free for NT members). From the field car park, a clear, well-trodden footpath leads down through farmland to the beach — typically 10–15 minutes on foot. Alternatively, park in Gorran Haven and follow the South West Coast Path south; allow longer (often 30–40 minutes) but you get classic cliff-top views.
There are no toilets or café on the beach — bring what you need, or use Gorran Haven before you walk. Dogs are welcome year-round. The far end towards Dodman Point is often quieter still. The Environment Agency designates Vault Beach as bathing water — check the map for the latest classification.
