Know before you go

Mylor Bridge: a creekside village at the head of Mylor Creek, five miles north of Falmouth

Mylor Bridge is a village at the head of Mylor Creek, about five miles north of Falmouth. It is the largest village in Mylor parish and lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its Cornish name is Ponsnowyth.

Mylor Creek is a tidal creek that flows into Carrick Roads, the estuary of the River Fal. Mylor Bridge marks the normal tidal limit at the top of the creek. At the mouth is Mylor Churchtown, home of the parish church, with a large yacht marina and Mylor Harbour, base of Restronguet Sailing Club and the last fleet of oyster fishermen.

The village has a good range of everyday shops, including a post office and newsagent, a grocery store, a butcher and a fishmonger. There is also a primary school, a dental practice and a hairdresser.

A little planning goes a long way

Before you book your Mylor Bridge stay

Two properties can look close on a map and still involve a very different journey. Ask about the whole stay, from unloading your bags to getting back after an evening out.

Parking and arrival

Ask whether parking is on site, reserved elsewhere or in a public car park. Confirm unloading arrangements and the walk with luggage.

Hills, steps and access

Ask the host about the route from the street to your room, lift access, bathroom layout and any steps inside. A central address or harbour view does not tell you whether a property suits your mobility needs.

Families and dogs

Confirm the room layout, cot or extra bed arrangements and any dog restrictions directly. For cottages, check outside space and where you can unload. Do not assume a whole property, parking or pet permission is included.
