Know before you go

St Keyne: a village south of Liskeard in south east Cornwall, known for its holy well

St Keyne is a village in south east Cornwall, south of Liskeard. It is one of the two main settlements in the civil parish of St Keyne and Trewidland, the other being Trewidland. The parish had 795 residents at the 2021 census.

The parish changed in 2021. It was enlarged to take in Trewidland and the surrounding area, which had been part of Dobwalls and Trewidland parish from 1974 to 2021. It was renamed St Keyne and Trewidland, and its area grew by more than three times. The parish council meets at Trewidland Village Hall and St Keyne Village Hall.

The church is dedicated to Saint Keyne, said to be a daughter of the legendary Welsh king Brychan. It has a Perpendicular north aisle, probably added to a church that was originally cruciform, and windows in the Decorated style that were probably reused. The west tower has three storeys and no buttresses.

A little planning goes a long way

Before you book your St Keyne stay

Two properties can look close on a map and still involve a very different journey. Ask about the whole stay, from unloading your bags to getting back after an evening out.

Find places to eat in St Keyne

Parking and arrival

Ask whether parking is on site, reserved elsewhere or in a public car park. Confirm unloading arrangements and the walk with luggage.

Hills, steps and access

Ask the host about the route from the street to your room, lift access, bathroom layout and any steps inside. A central address or harbour view does not tell you whether a property suits your mobility needs.

Families and dogs

Confirm the room layout, cot or extra bed arrangements and any dog restrictions directly. For cottages, check outside space and where you can unload. Do not assume a whole property, parking or pet permission is included.
