The sand sits in a sheltered bay with a short walk down from parking above. Facilities are seasonal, so bring what you need out of summer, and take litter home.
A first visit works well with Charlestown: time on the beach, then the harbour, a café, or the next cove toward Duporth.

What to expect at Porthpean
The beach is easy to reach from Charlestown, but it is still a Cornish cove: tides, a slope down from the car park, and seasonal rules.

Parking sits above the sand
Head for Porthpean or Charlestown and follow signs down to the shore. The last stretch is on foot from the private car park above. Pay with Parkopedia — mobile signal is often poor, so connect to the car park WiFi if you need it.
Seasonal dog restrictions typically apply 10am–6pm from May to September. Dogs are usually welcome outside those hours and in winter. Check the signs on the day.
Check tide times before you swim. The beach is tidal and should not be assumed to have lifeguard cover.
