On the day

Park at the P, then walk under the railway

Put Google Plus Code 87VR+MCJ Par into Maps. That is the Spit Beach car park by the Imerys Par Dock works, at 50°20'39.2"N 4°42'32.3"W. From the car park, walk under the railway through the tunnel. Turn right and follow the path to Spit Beach. About 10 minutes. The map line is that walk. Keep to the public path beside the docks. This is a working china clay harbour, not a seafront car park on the sand.

Spit Beach is the quieter strip on St Austell Bay next to Par. Par Sands is the bigger family beach next door, with more space and easier village access. Fowey is a separate harbour town about 6 miles away by road. Do not plan this as a walk from Fowey harbour.

There is no café or toilet on this strip, and you should not assume lifeguard cover. Bring what you need, check the tide, and take litter home. Par village is the place for food and the train.
