Big Green Surf School is a surf school based on Crantock Beach in Cornwall, and it sits right beside one of the county’s well known stretches of sand. Crantock Beach is the kind of place where families and newcomers to the water often spend a whole day, and a surf school here means you do not have to travel far to give it a try. The school runs lessons, kids and adults surf clubs and bodyboarding, so there is something for a range of ages and experience levels. Paddleboarding, kayaking, coasteering and equipment hire are also available.
Crantock Beach is the anchor of any visit here, with sand and sea on the doorstep of the school. The Gannel is close by too, and it offers a quieter stretch of water that suits a gentler paddle or a walk along the estuary. Because the school sits directly on the beach, you can book a session and then stay to enjoy the sand for the rest of the day. Vosporth Villa is nearby as well. If you want a change of scene after your lesson, Fistral Beach South at Pentire and Fistral Beach North are both within easy reach and are known for their surf. Porth Joke, sometimes called Polly Joke, is another nearby option for a quieter walk.
A surf school is a straightforward way to get into the water without buying your own kit. Lessons are the usual starting point, and clubs give regulars a chance to keep improving. Bodyboarding is a good alternative for anyone who wants to ride the waves lying down, and equipment hire means you can sort out a board without bringing one with you. Paddleboarding, kayaking and coasteering at this location widen the choice further, so a group with mixed interests can each find something to do. The official Big Green Surf School website is the place to check lesson times, prices and booking details. Near to Crantock Beach and The Gannel, the school is well placed for a coastal day out in this part of Cornwall.
