About Burncoose Gardens

Burncoose is a woodland garden and specialist plant nursery at Gwennap, between Redruth and Falmouth. Around 30 acres of woodland garden lie alongside the working nursery, and the gardens are free to walk. Visitors come to wander the woodland paths, see mature shrubs and trees in a sheltered Cornish setting, and buy plants from the nursery, which supplies gardeners across the country by mail order as well. Spring is the most colourful time for a visit. The nursery and gardens open Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm. The cafe has closed for the season and reopens next year, so bring refreshments in the autumn and winter months. It suits keen gardeners and plant buyers looking for a quiet walk rather than a big visitor attraction, and it is easy to combine with a trip to the Gwennap and Redruth mining area.
