About Kestle Barton

Kestle Barton is an old farmstead on the Lizard, set among fields and woods above Frenchman's Creek and the Helford River near Manaccan, run by the Kestle Barton Trust to further the arts. Its contemporary gallery hosts around four changing exhibitions a year, together with events and workshops, and in summer 2026 it showed Sarah Gillespie's exhibition Birded and Eyed. Around the buildings is a garden laid out in the old south facing mowhay, with herbaceous planting, tall grasses and a wildflower meadow, plus an orchard whose apples are pressed for juice sold in the tea room. Entry to the gallery and garden is free. In 2026 it is open from 28 March to 31 October, Tuesday to Sunday and on bank holiday Mondays, 10.30am to 5pm. It is a peaceful place for an hour or two and can be combined with walks around the Helford, as it can be reached on foot from Helford village or by ferry from Helford Passage. Five houses on site are let as holiday cottages, with the profits supporting the Trust.
