About The Acorn

The Acorn is Penzance's independent arts venue, housed in a converted 19th century chapel on Parade Street just off Chapel Street in the old centre of town. It is run as a registered charity with a large team of volunteers and puts on a programme of live music, theatre, dance, comedy, storytelling and family shows through the year, with touring bands and local performers sharing the stage. Typical events range from candlelit ghost stories and folk and acoustic nights to science shows for children in the school holidays. Most evening performances start between 7.30pm and 8pm, with afternoon shows for families in the holidays. Tickets are sold through the venue's website, and the box office number is listed there. The venue is a short walk from the harbour, the bus station and Penzance railway station. The venue welcomes new volunteers to help front of house and backstage.
