About The Exchange

The Exchange is a contemporary art gallery on Princes Street in Penzance, run together with Newlyn Art Gallery, which is about 2km away along the promenade. It shows changing exhibitions of contemporary art, and its Engine Room hosts community projects, talks, workshops and family sessions. In 2026 the main show is Libita Sibungu: Zed Love, running from 23 May to 31 October, with a new exhibition opening on 21 November 2026. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Entry is by a pass giving a year of unlimited visits to both The Exchange and Newlyn Art Gallery, bought at the front desk or online; under 18s and students go free, and a cheaper Penwith Pass is offered to residents of local postcodes. There is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and light lunches, and a shop selling books, cards, ceramics and jewellery. The venue is cashless. Several pay and display car parks, including the large harbour car park, are within walking distance, and Penzance bus and train stations are about 600m away. Well behaved dogs are welcome in most areas.
