About St Michael’s Way

St Michael's Way is a 12.5 mile walking route across the far west of Cornwall, from Lelant church on the north coast to St Michael's Mount on the south coast. Established in 1994, it is part of the European network of pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela, and walkers who also complete the Camino Ingles from A Coruna can receive the Compostela certificate with a stamped credential. The route is waymarked with a stylised shell based on the Council of Europe pilgrim route sign. From Lelant it passes Carbis Bay and Knill's Monument above St Ives, crosses Trencrom Hill with its wide views of both coasts, and continues by Ludgvan and Gulval churches to the shore at Long Rock, finishing through Marazion and across to the Mount at low tide or by boat. It can be walked in one go or split into sections. It suits walkers, pilgrims and visitors staying around St Ives or Penzance.
