About Harry’s Walls

Harry’s Walls is the remains of an artillery fort begun in 1551 on St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly. It was never finished. Two of its bastions and a length of curtain wall survive today, and the site is in the care of English Heritage, free to visit at any reasonable time in daylight. An uphill footpath leads to it, with uneven surfaces and sheer drops in places. Shops, food and toilets are in Hugh Town.
