About Coast to Coast Trail (Portreath to Devoran)

The Coast to Coast Trail is an 11 mile cycling and walking route across Cornwall from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the Fal estuary in the south. It follows old mineral railway lines from Cornwall's mining heyday, so it is mostly gentle, and much of it is well surfaced and traffic free, though watch for occasional granite blocks left from the old railway. The route passes through former mining country with engine houses and sealed mine shafts, crosses the A30 near Scorrier, and passes Twelveheads on the way down to Devoran, once an important mineral port. Bike hire is available along the route at Cambrose and Twelveheads, both with cafes, and there are pubs at Scorrier and Devoran. Riders often return by train from Perranwell station. It suits families and leisure cyclists.
