Lat 50.3100° N, lon 5.2010° W●Mining village · Trevaunance Cove · St Agnes Heritage Coast
A cliff top mining village above Trevaunance Cove, with engine houses on the coast path, a lively village centre and the St Agnes Heritage Coast stretching either side.
St Agnes at a glance
St Agnes sits on Cornwall’s mid north coast. The village centre, chapel and shops sit inland of steep lanes that drop toward Trevaunance Cove, while St Agnes Beacon rises to the west as a landmark for the surrounding countryside.
The cliffs around Wheal Coates and the coast path are part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Engine houses, heather slopes and Atlantic views sit a short walk from the village.
This page covers mainland St Agnes only , not St Agnes on the Isles of Scilly. Use beach and walk pages for Chapel Porth, Trevaunance Cove and longer SWCP stages when you want route detail.
Must visit spots
Start in the village for bakery and pub stops, then choose Trevaunance Cove, the Wheal Coates cliffs, St Agnes Beacon or a Chapel Porth loop depending on tide and weather.

Coast & mines
The Heritage Coast is the reason many people visit, but the village streets and Beacon complete the picture.
The defining landmark
Trevaunance Cove sits in a rocky inlet below St Agnes. The beach and harbour area change character with the tide; check swell and access before committing to a long stay on the sand.
Along the cliffs, Wheal Coates and neighbouring engine houses mark the tin mining landscape. Paths can be exposed and muddy , turn back in strong wind or poor visibility.
Walk from the harbour
Descend to the cove for beach time and harbour views; return by the same lanes.
Walk the cliffs to the engine houses for Atlantic views; keep clear of unstable edges.
Climb the Beacon for wide views inland and along the Heritage Coast.
One day itinerary
Use the classic plan as a guide, then switch for rain, families or shorter distances. Keep Scilly’s St Agnes separate.
