About Port Eliot House and Gardens

Port Eliot is a historic estate at St Germans in south east Cornwall, the ancestral seat of the Earl of St Germans and home of the Eliot family. The Grade I listed priory and house was remodelled by Sir John Soane, and the landscape gardener Humphry Repton then created the gardens and park around it. Visitors can walk the gardens and parkland, join a guided tour of the house, and visit the stables shop and cafe and the Eliot Arms. Tunnel tours and special events also run during the year. The gardens are open Monday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. House tours run Tuesday to Friday at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm, and at weekends at 12.30pm and 2.30pm, with prebooking preferred but not essential. The estate also offers camping and holiday accommodation. It suits visitors interested in historic houses, art and landscaped parkland, and it is easy to combine with the quiet village of St Germans.
