About The Fowey Aquarium

Fowey Aquarium is a small, long established aquarium in an old building on the Town Quay in the centre of Fowey, a few steps from the harbour wall. Its tanks hold fish, shellfish and other sea life from around the Cornish coast, much of it brought in by local boats, and the touch pool is the main draw for children, who can handle small creatures under supervision and ask the staff questions. It is the kind of place that takes under an hour, which makes it a useful stop between the shops, the ferry to Polruan and the museum next door, especially on a wet afternoon. The aquarium is wheelchair and pram accessible and dogs are welcome inside. Opening is seasonal: it runs through February half term and from March to the end of October, closes in January and from late November through December, and sells tickets at the door; note that cards are not accepted, so bring cash. Children aged three and over pay, under threes are free with an adult, and groups of ten or more should ask in advance. It suits families with young children and anyone curious about what lives in the water they have just seen from the quay. A visit pairs well with the Fowey Museum in the old town hall beside it.
