Helston Farmers' Market is a long established monthly producers' market held on the first Saturday of each month at the Old Cattle Market on Porthleven Road, TR13 0SR, beside the boating lake on the western edge of the town. Published start time is 9.30am, with the market running into the early afternoon; Visit Cornwall gives 9.30am to 1pm and other guides 1.30pm, so arrive in the morning. It runs through the year rain or shine, including the winter months up to the end of December. Stalls are run by local farms and food producers and sell seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs, cheese, fresh meat and game, bread, cakes and pies, plants, jams and pickles. Visit Cornwall includes it among its five farmers' markets to try in the county and notes parking nearby and disabled access. Helston also has a weekly Country Market every Friday from 8am to 1pm at the Guild Hall in the town centre, which is a useful fallback if your dates do not line up with the first Saturday. It suits self caterers staying on the Lizard or around Porthleven who want to stock up on Cornish produce for the week, and anyone who prefers to buy direct from the people who grew or made the food.
