About The White Hart Hotel – Bar/Restaurant

The White Hart Hotel is the old coaching inn on Broad Street, the central square of Launceston, a few minutes from the Norman castle. After two years closed it reopened in 2025 under new ownership, with the building refurbished and smartened up outside and a general manager and events team in place; the ballroom was still being worked on at the time of reopening. It is the town's main hotel, with a comfortable carpeted bar divided into sections that fills with shoppers during the day and has satellite television in the evenings. Four handpumps carry Sharp's Doom Bar and St Austell Tribute as regulars plus two changing guest ales. Food is served all day from midday, a breakfast menu runs until mid-morning in the bar or restaurant, and the new team has added an Indian menu alongside the mainstream choices. According to CAMRA the bar opens Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays, so check before planning a Sunday lunch. It suits visitors wanting somewhere central to eat, drink or stay while exploring Launceston's castle and the Tamar valley, and residents who remember it as a focus of town life.
