Liskeard Library

Liskeard Library is the public library on Barras Street in the centre of Liskeard, reopened after a full refurbishment by the social enterprise Real Ideas, which runs the building, with Cornwall Council providing the library service inside it. As well as book lending it now works as a community hub. Upstairs is a drop in workspace open to anyone without booking, with free wifi, public computers, laptops to borrow and room for up to 70 people, and there are two bookable rooms, a Meeting Room for 16 and a Studio for 12, each with a projector and wifi. Printing, scanning and photocopying are available for a small fee. A fully accessible cafe on the ground floor serves drinks, cakes, light bites and lunch on weekdays and Saturday mornings, and takes card payment only. The refurbishment adjusted floor levels downstairs to improve access. For visitors it is a practical stop rather than a sight: somewhere to work for an hour, get online, print tickets or sit out the rain with a coffee, and it is a short walk from the Liskeard and District Museum on Pike Street and the town's car parks. It suits residents, remote workers and anyone needing a quiet, free indoor space in town.
