About Saltash Heritage Museum

Saltash Heritage Museum is a small local history museum at 17 Lower Fore Street, Saltash, in the older part of the town that runs down towards the Tamar waterfront. It is run by Saltash Heritage, a registered charity that has been collecting and recording the history of Saltash and the surrounding district for around forty years, and it marked that anniversary in 2026 with an exhibition looking back at its past shows and activities. The museum has permanent displays on the town's past alongside regular temporary exhibitions, and the society also runs a Local History Centre for people researching the town, its buildings and local families. Opening is limited and seasonal. In 2026 the museum opened on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings from spring until December, and it is normally closed in the winter months. Hours have changed from year to year, so check before making a special trip. Visits at other times, including for groups, can be arranged by appointment by contacting Saltash Heritage on the number on this listing. Admission is free, with donations welcome. The society has said it plans to move to larger premises on Fore Street, so confirm the current address before visiting.
