About Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden

The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is the house, studio and garden at Trewyn on Barnoon Hill where the sculptor lived and worked from 1949 for the rest of her life, now run by Tate. Her studio has been left much as it was, with tools and unfinished pieces visible through the workshop windows, while the ground floor shows photographs and archive material and the walled garden she planted holds sculptures in bronze, stone and wood among the planting and a small pond, more than 30 works in all. It is a short uphill walk from Tate St Ives and the harbour. It suits anyone interested in modern sculpture or the St Ives artists, though the steps and gravel paths make it awkward for wheelchair users without prior arrangement.
