A dramatic north-coast village where Atlantic cliffs, medieval history, a famous castle and Arthurian legend make a full day easy to fill.

Tintagel at a glance

Cliff-top history and one of Cornwall’s defining castle landscapes

Tintagel is best known for its castle, long associated with the legends of King Arthur, but the village rewards more than one stop. The coast, village cafés and shops, and routes toward the beach and headland create a genuinely full visitor day.

Plan the castle as the major visit, then leave time for the cliff scenery and village. Distances can be short on a map but involve steps, gradients, exposed paths and changeable Atlantic weather.
