About Wesley Cottage

Wesley Cottage Trewint, also known as Digory Isbell’s Cottage, is a small heritage site in the village of Trewint in the Altarnun area, where you can step inside a building with 18th-century furnishings and displays of Wesleyana. The cottage sits in a quiet corner of the village, and its two gardens give you somewhere calm to pause before or after looking round.

What you will find inside

The rooms are furnished in period style, and the displays of Wesleyana tell you something of the site’s place in Methodist history. Outside, a Peace Garden and a Prayer Garden offer a change of pace. Complimentary light refreshments are normally available, so you can take your time over a drink rather than rushing through.

When to come and what to plan for

The cottage opens from 1st May to 31st October on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and visits at other times are possible by arrangement, which suits anyone whose trip falls outside those days. Parking is very limited, so it helps to think about where you will leave the car before you set off, and disabled access is limited. Because the gardens sit alongside the cottage, allow a little extra time to sit quietly after your visit. If you are making a day of it, nearby The Old Cattle Barn and Little Trespettigue are worth knowing about as you plan your route.

Getting there

Trewint lies in the Altarnun area, within reach of the surrounding countryside. The site’s limited parking and access mean a little forward planning makes the visit easier for everyone in your group.
