About Looe Island Viewpoint (from Hannafore)

The Hannafore seafront gives one of the best views of Looe Island, also known as St George’s Island, which lies just offshore from West Looe. The island is a marine nature reserve, and from the shore you may spot seals in the water around it.

What to expect

Find a spot along Marine Drive or the sea wall above Hannafore Beach and look out across the water. At low tide the rock pools below are worth exploring too. To land on the island itself, boat trips run from Looe harbour in season.

Finding the viewpoint

Hannafore Lane and Marine Drive, West Looe, Looe, Cornwall PL13 2DT. There is free roadside parking along Marine Drive.

Around Hannafore

Hannafore is the seafront at West Looe, a short walk from the harbour. Its shingle and rock beach is known for rock pools at low tide and looks straight out to Looe Island, a marine nature reserve you can visit by boat from Looe harbour. The South West Coast Path starts here and runs about five miles west to Polperro by way of Talland Bay.
