Coast & mines
The Heritage Coast is the reason many people visit, but the village streets and Beacon complete the picture.
The defining landmark
Trevaunance Cove sits in a rocky inlet below St Agnes. The beach and harbour area change character with the tide; check swell and access before committing to a long stay on the sand.
Along the cliffs, Wheal Coates and neighbouring engine houses mark the tin mining landscape. Paths can be exposed and muddy , turn back in strong wind or poor visibility.
Walk from the harbour
Descend to the cove for beach time and harbour views; return by the same lanes.
Walk the cliffs to the engine houses for Atlantic views; keep clear of unstable edges.
Climb the Beacon for wide views inland and along the Heritage Coast.
One day itinerary
Use the classic plan as a guide, then switch for rain, families or shorter distances. Keep Scilly’s St Agnes separate.
