About King Charles’s Castle

King Charles’s Castle is the ruin of a small artillery fort on the hillside above New Grimsby on Tresco, built in the reign of Edward VI between 1547 and 1553. It is looked after by English Heritage and free to visit at any reasonable time in daylight. Access is on foot only, by a steep footpath across heather, so wear sturdy shoes. Dogs on leads are welcome.
