About Saints’ Way

The Saints' Way is a coast to coast walking route across mid Cornwall, from St Petroc's Church in Padstow on the north coast to St Finbar's Church in Fowey on the south coast. It is around 28 to 29 miles long, depending on which branch you take. The route follows a possible path used by early traders and Christian travellers moving between Ireland, Wales and mainland Europe, who crossed Cornwall on foot rather than sail around Land's End. In 1984 two Luxulyan villagers found an overgrown cobbled path with granite stiles, and the Way was created and opened in 1986. From Padstow it heads inland to Lanivet and Helman Tor, where it splits: one branch runs via Lanlivery and Golant, the other via Luxulyan, St Blazey and Tywardreath, both ending in Fowey. It can be walked in one long push or broken into sections between villages. It suits keen walkers and pilgrims.
