About St Agnes Beacon

St Agnes Beacon is the high hill that rises behind the village of St Agnes on Cornwall's north coast. The summit stands at 192 metres (628 feet) and has a topograph identifying the landmarks in an outstanding view, which takes in the coast towards Perranporth, Godrevy Island and its lighthouse, and St Ives Bay. Beside the path are the hummocky outlines of probable Bronze Age cairns, and the summit mound is thought to be another cairn dating from between 2000 and 1500 BC. The Beacon is open heathland crossed by paths, and can be climbed in a short walk from nearby lanes or as part of a longer circuit. The South West Coast Path Association's Beacon on the Coast walk is a 6.3 mile loop from the Trelawny Road car park in St Agnes, taking in the Beacon, Chapel Porth and St Agnes Head on good paths with a couple of climbs. It suits walkers and anyone after one of the best views on the north coast.
