About St Agnes Museum

St Agnes Museum is a small, free museum on Penwinnick Road in St Agnes, on Cornwall's north coast, telling the story of the parish of St Agnes. It is run by the St Agnes Museum Trust with the help of volunteers. Displays cover the area's mining and maritime history, alongside farming, folklore, religion and archaeology, with temporary exhibitions drawn from the collection. The museum opens for the season from 1 April to the end of October, daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm, and is closed through the winter. Admission is free for everyone. The ground floor is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with ramps, and a virtual tour of the first floor can be viewed on a computer in the study corner. Large print guides are available from the stewards. For younger visitors the museum has published a children's story, Sam and the Leatherback Turtle. Only assistance and guide dogs are admitted. It makes a good short visit alongside the village, the cliffs and the old mine engine houses nearby.
